Picked this beast up today. Its a '68 in decent shape. Needs a bit of work. Motor supposivly ran last summer. It does turn over. There was a lot of water in the gearbox. Going to change all the oils, clean the fuel system put a fresh plug in and a good battery and see what happens. Choke seems to be frozen, a carb rebuild probably wouldnt hurt. I have a '78 c81, are the mower decks interchangable by any chance?

Hello new to the forum I just bought a 1997 520h with 387 hrs has a snowblower single stage and mower deck its in real good shape i think it just needs a little maintaince. Engine surges hopefully just needs a carb and tank cleaning. Headlights don t work and need to replace a idler sprocket on blower and possible have to replace the lift seal because the snowblower won't stay up it slowly lowers not sure if that's normal because if weight or needs to be fixed. Overall very happy I bought it I grew up using my father's 520h

Hi All, Just bought a B-80 I believe is 1977 and was searching for others like me out there and found this forum. My B-80 has a Johnson Loader on it and is mostly restored. I'm looking forward to the Spring to enjoy it. When the weather gets better, I'll get some pictures and post them.

@WHX14, and @Big_Red_Fred, look see what I saw today, see if you tell me a few extra things you see in the pics, Jeff.

Some dummy forgot to do it when the weather was nice . And I know I waited to long to replace the idler pully on my C160 and I should have done it in the fall. And it cost me more by holding off on a cheap fix. MY BAD. I noticed the idler pulley was bouncing in the spring but I thought I'll get it before winter. Last week while plowing snow I started to smell something burn. So I put it back in the garage and checked the belt. The top of the belt was starting to turn black. So I pulled off the guard and looked at the belt and the pulley was froze solid. I Pulled the pulley off and the pulley was welded to the bolt with rust . The Belt had a large deep crack in it . I ended up replacing the belt and idler pully. I have a toro dealer 25 miles from me and he had both the pully and belt In stock. 7478 belt and 112426 pully $67.00 for both. Well I got both on and it runs great now. I did notice the Parking brake handle has been repaired badly. The diagram shows a spacer goes in the handle so the bolt can be tightened that holds the idler pully. Well the hole was oblong so he welded a spacer to the handle and if I tighten the bolt it binds the handle. I put thread lock on the bolt hoping it holds until spring. I'll replace the handle with a new homemade one as soon as possible. I hope I don't wait to long again. So the morel of this story is . DON'T BE A DUMMY OR IT WILL COST YOU MORE IN THE END. And yes that is belt rubber on the pully.

Already let him know about it a few months back... Didn't go in and ask on the MF... good eyes on the adjustable beverage holder.. but yes better pics and not only what you see but FULL package there's a mower deck, snow plow and blower including an utility trailer to boot... You and Josh hit most but those wheel weights are the mystical (and pricey $250 on eBay if you find them) 2 piece MF like I "stole" last spring for $50 hiding under my custom wheel covers on the '95, blue paint must be cheaper ...

That Massey sure is set up nice isn’t it Jim? Has the Cat 0 and the mower deck, wheel weights, and is that a cup holder I see on the left fender for Jim’s favorite beverage? That landscape rake would be worth the price of admission alone! Those are pretty rare... Jeff—do you have a dollar amount on that setup—just out of curiosity? Also, did you take any Better pics of that D—like with it loaded on your truck?

I had a suggestion and apparently Eric liked it...I’m sure you’ll get to hear/see more about that in a few days! This forum is a great community and I’m glad to be part of it. If I’m able to contribute, I certainly want to... Others have contributed to me and I want to be able to “pass it along”.

Unless he had a reserve he has to accept your bid you should complain to Ebay.. May not get tractor but you won't lose any money and he might get banned.

I'm with you guys. Before I saw this tractor, Bob asked me if I was interested and described it to me as a Wheel Horse with a Briggs / Peerless. My comment was no, I don't deal with vertical engine tractors. After I saw it was a horizontal shaft and had a square 5 slot hood, I became curious and got you guys involved. The Briggs engine numbers do match up to the 1974 A90 Special that is on the WH by years list. I just noticed 1974 was the year AMC purchased WH and if you look at the models after that purchase, for several years, there are a lot of odd combinations of drive trains. Tecky, Kohler, Briggs, Vertical, Horizontal, and electric engines and I see about 12 different trannys used in 74 and 75. Looks like every AMC engineer had a project tractor. I described the 417 above the picture Jim. It had a rough life and the engine was shot, but the electric lift did work and the deck was in fair shape. If it would have been a Hydro, I probably would have bought it. But being an 8 speed and with a bad engine, I planned to part it out, so I stopped at $150. I would not be surprised if it shows up at the auction in the future. I still recall the 314 w/cab and dual thrower that was sold 3 times in 2 years for $3600, $1800, and the last time for $1600.

Hello everyone, been a long time, I used to be a member on the old Yahoo group as well as both my mom and dad(dickandkate), just wanted to say hi and catch up with some of the old members from the page. Also still have the 702 running.

Well boys I couldn't help myself and I took it to work today. After we salted the campus I had some time. First I took the 48" deck off. Aside from surface rust the deck is solid. The bearings and tight and super smooth. Next I looked under neath. Real grimy but not obvious leaks. Frame lols good and solid. Finally I did a compression test. I did the rear jug first and removed the battery. Maybr you don't need to for plug access but it made it easier. While it was out I got a good look at the wire harness all looks good. There is one random switch but I suspect it's for the lights, yet to confirm. I jumped the battery to the leads, didn't turn over as fast as I'd like but the result was good, 120psi. The front was easy and I put the battery back, it spun much faster and showed around 125psi. I'd say they both are. So the engine is nice and tight, the 422 hrs now seems likely.

Yup his profile says he has been an eBay member since 2010, but he only has a feedback rating of 2 - both positive. I wouldn't mind if he was waiting for the money to show in his account, just respond to my communication.

I recently purchased a WH part on eBay really cheap. Only bidder. Paid right away. Day or two later the money was put back into my account with a note saying he sold it by mistake. Said he needed it for his own tractor. I left it slide because I didn't need the part right away. Wouldn't have given it much more thought except for the fact he was a Red Square member who had my highest respect... No, don't ask....

No worries Bob. Many of us have been in the same or similar situations. As a standardized card-holding member of the state of Maine professional procrastinators club, I'm all too familiar with....... well nevermind I'll deal with it later. Slightly worn. ....... yes.

The Cub Cadet 169 was the first Cub to be powered with the K341 motor. They were very late in the model run before the introduction of the 1650 QuietLine series. They only produced about 4500 of them and they are sought after in the Cub Community. As Jeff mentioned—they had the large (deep dish) air cleaner. I’m not positive because I’ve never personally owned a 169 but it sure looks to be the same air cleaner that is used on the KT series twins and later on the magnums without the snorkel spec’d by Like is on JackRabbit...

Uh, what the horse....I wasn't looking for a free hose, more than willing to pay for it . Heck, I was prepared to make the trip if needed, it's a bit over an hour from here, give or take a few...and traffic at your end. I do appreciate it , just let me know what it's worth...please. This Horse earns it's keep in rent credit here as well as doing "pay forward" help for others - an investment in keeping it alive and working as far as I'm concerned. Only issue I've had is trying to hide it's looks and the tracks it leaves behind - pretty obvious around here what visited their property when they are not home....lol. Thought I was being inconspicuous, but the secret is out who is moving snow/dirt/rock at night around here I guess - but I did get a plate of really tasty cookies on my tool box by the back door from the last large snowfall we had, lol... We have a lot of old folks around here that can't hardly get out much - the locals that do clear some drives all take care of their buddies - and ignore the elderly. Not going to happen as long as I'm around, not the way I was brought up either. Sarge

Probably just fix up the little things, new fluids and fix that dang hydraulic leak. The way it leaks I could fill it and run up and down the drive way to give the black top a seal coating! It's stout enough to hook the boat up and go after @Ed Kennell's fish frys! Yup Yup be my red headed stepchild!

I'm going to wait until tonight and if he hasn't responded to my message by then, I'll file a resolution request with eBay. First time I've ever had an issue buying or selling on eBay. I told him it would be later in the month before I could pick it up, I'd just like some sort of recognition or communication from him.

I've been wanting some more lead to finally add a bit more weight. Eldest son-in-law said he had some old lead from roofing work done on his house. So I went over for it last week. I just wanted about 40-50lb but came home with around 400lb. I think some could be getting weighted in. Keep costs down. Up to the farm this morning and out with the oxy/acet and soon had more lead added. More by good luck than judgement, they have ended up the same weight. 56lb. A couple of plastic bucket lids to replace the existing ones and some self drilling/tapping roof screws. Quick spray with primer. They'll get another coat of primer and a couple of top coats before I refit them.

Picked this one up a few years ago. Got it cleaned up and running but can't find an after picture. My father had one years ago and i mowed with it when i was a kid. Self propelled they wore the tires smooth. Remember father firing up the coleman white gas camp stove with a big pot of water on it. First heated up the old wheel/tire then pried it off after it softened. Heated up the new tire and pried it on. Need new tires for mine also. Found a pair in the back of an old hardware store but they were the wrong size....

I have too many reel mowers and even have a wheel horse! Have another REO that I don't have pictures of as well and i am thinking about getting rid of some of them lol. If you contact HAPCO parts who bought out dandy sales they have tires for reel mowers, but you will need to know your size. http://hapcoparts.com/about-us.aspx There is the link for there contact info. I know the site hows they are a JD parts dealer, but they did buy out dandy sales and all of their inventory. I have bought from them before and they are very helpful!

Wheel weights are a good addition to any . You could post a wanted ad here, http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/wanted/?do=form&d=2 or contact one of our vendors that sells used parts. http://a-ztractor.com/

you should be able to find the help you may need, here. While you're showing this tractor some much need TLC, you might want to check the head gasket and the axle seals.

I can remember riding my bike to the store to pick up a couple 1/4 sticks of dynamite when I was about ten. They put the caps and dynamite in a bag, I tossed them in my basket and rode home and gave them to my grandfather. Couldn't do that today.

Try the new gold lenses now available for brazing in #5 shade - they really help older eyes see the puddle more clearly. Or, in my case - #3 lens...lol. I've had to fix a lot of those handles from wear - I just trace them out and build a new one, minus the worn areas and put better quality bushings in every moving part to stop the issue. The jumping from the belts can wear those parts pretty badly , even the brake arms can get cut off where they contact the linkage. Sarge

It is a bad sign if the seller has not accepted the PayPal payment. Don't wait, open a case with eBay and and with PayPal. They have "long arms."

There was a much easier way. You added a few links to the drive chain and mounted a sprocket in the looped hole rerouted the chain around it and the drive sprocket and the blades turned backward. apply some valve grinding compound and you were set.
