hi men, several years ago i picked up this bervac blower from another member on here. he said the gearbox leaked. i have been sloooowly refurbishing it for my son-in-law. i had to completely disassemble the blower to get to the gearbox. i split the gearbox and it looked great inside. i made a gasket with permatex. i removed the chute and had it sandblasted and powdwercoated gloss black. i flipped the cutting/scraper edge. i wire brushed the inside of the bucket and gave it 2 coats of POR15, then 2 top coats of rustoleum gloss black. it came with the counterweight kit which you see on the back. i repainted the counterweight kit with rattle cans. i also had to install a new piece of number 40 chain which transfers power from the blower gearbox to the impeller shaft. the chute rotation handle support had a badly cracked rubber grommet type of thing which centered the rotating handle. my buddy harry came up with the idea to use an electrical connector in its place and now the handle rotates nicely. i installed the blower on my 416-8 for my son-in-law to try this winter. i added some wheel weights and chains. i put a new battery in the tractor and did the usual maint as well. hope you all like the pics. best regards mike in mass.

Installed a new set of tires on the 416H Loader. Hi-Run brand, 16 x 6.5 4 ply for the front set, 23 x 10.5 for the rear. Cleaned up and painted the rims with new tubes added. I used an old pump sprayer and a extension tire hose to fill the tires. I removed the valve stem from the new tube and the extension hose. I just cut the sprayer hose and it was a good fit right over the extension hose end. Filled the tank with the WW fluid and just used the pump handle to fill the tires. I could also open the black relief valve and pressurize the tank with a rubbed tipped air nozzle as an option. My daughter wanted to help so the slower way was more fun for her. Worked perfectly. Not much snow fall but allot of ice and tires seems to plant well as I changed from foward to reverse. The new digital tire inflator ( Amazon $30 ) is just fantatic.....I normally use the tire extension hose threaded on to the tire valves first, the extra length keeps the gauge inflator out of harms way . The brass chuck hold the tire valve really snugly. No air leaks at all when filling the tires. Filling truck/car tires I do not use the extension unless I am filling the truck spare under the read bed. Here a few pics:

My minor project to replace sheared/stripped engine tin bolts has expanded and not in a good way. My 418 is the newest Horse I have and while i am used to running into the dreaded NLA note for parts on my older Horses i thought that a 1986 engine would still have parts available...Wrong. Intake and exhaust valves for Magnum Twins (and KT17s) are NLA. Now this engine was working fine. The hour meter which didn't work when I got it showed 1200 hours but the wear on the front tires and other wear indicated many more hours. But she doesn't smoke make knocking noises and has good power. Thus when I pulled the heads to get better access to the broken tin bolts and to do a decarboning I found 3 valves in good shape but one exhaust valve was seriously eroded. Seat looked good so I went in search of an exhaust valve. In 1988 Kohler changes the valves in Magnums from a 45 degree grind to 30 degrees. Then found that all the valves 45 degree and 30 intake and exhaust are NLA. Before they dropped them they also changed the replacement valve number to 8275511s which included a valve seat. Got a NOS one from Ebay. You get a 30 degree valve and an unfinished valve seat with instructions to remove the old valve seat with Kohler Tool 11726...NLA then press in the new insert with Kohler Tool 11811 also NLA (seeing a trend here????). Then grind the new seat to 30 degrees ( do not have a valve grinder). Frustration level was rising when i thought there really isn't much difference between KTs and Magnums when it comes to internals Dug out some valves i had salvaged from a blown KT 17. They were the same diameter and stem size.and were 45 degree which matched my existing valve seat. Had to file a bit off the stem to get the .010/.014 cold clearance. Looks like it should work just fine...I hope.) Lesson here do not scrap blown KTs salvage what you can as parts avaialbility for Kohler twins is evaporating. This included eh cast iron twins in the D series.their parts are hard to find also. There are frequent discussions here about using OEM parts or after market in the K series singles. Be glad you have a choice... There also seem to be almost no after market Magnum parts.

Well I found some spare time and got a little more done - ALLLLLLMOST done Brake pad re-glued with epoxy, and a little touch up in those slightly missed areas Had to custom build the lifting mechanism for the plow for the last hurdle - did not get pics of the lift system complete prior to paint All done and figured out I tore down the paint booth prematurely Put up another smaller paint booth to finish all the plow and last minute "ooops" I forgot that parts Plow and lift mechanism is painted along with misc parts, and going to dry in the paint booth for a day or two as it is bittier cold her - then I can get it all bolted together for the final / Completed pictures Local tire selection was unfortunate minimal, and I did not want to wait for shipping, so I went with the old wheel barrow tire look. . . Decided to go with a simple fixed rear hitch . . . . Also had an old shifter boot that worked great for filling the hole around the steering column . . . . A HUGE THANK YOU TO TERRY AKA VINYLGUY - the decals look awesome (Crap I think the left one's ever so slightly low to the rear), and I cannot resist = = the membership was above and beyond Terry = My Hat is off to you my NEW friend You have now given me a new addiction - "I've got a horse - A Wheel Hose OF COURSE" The thrill of the chase will be great, as the old wheel horses are a tough find here on the west coast, but I am up for the challenge She has come along ways . . . . . . . . .

Got home from work went to start the 1054 it would barely roll over. Battery was good ,so I cleaned all the connections on the starter. Success!! That was till the starter belt broke..... Got it started with pull rope. Yay !! Started plowing off the little bit of snow we had today and the drive belt started slipping/screeching on flat ground.... Almost done plowing and the tractor stopped like I turned the key off. Pushed the tractor up to the house.... I think Murphy kicked my butt today!! lol Oh well.....

Thanks Bob. All, I have attached a couple of pictures. I still have a few things to do on it. This wheel horse was the victim of a fallen tree years ago but it's been a fun journey restoring it. Drill........

Just a tip - if you want to store paint for any length of time after it's been opened and keep any oxygen from starting to cure it in the can you can fill the can with inert gas if you have either a mig or tig welder . Disconnect the ground , disable the wire feed if needed and cycle the gas through the welder to fill up the can - I use plastic wrap under the lid to make a really tight seal . Filling it with argon or CO2 mix will stop almost any paint mix from hardening and wrecking the left overs - both those inert gasses are heavier than air and will push out the O2 in less than a few seconds . Same with bigger cans - I've stored left over gallons that had reducer mixed in already for years with no problems . It's also the preferred method for storing chemical coatings such as POR-15 and others since they are cured by O2 and humidity - the inert gas will keep them fresh for a long time . Just make absolutely certain that can is isolated from the ground so the welder can't light off a spark and ignite the stuff - that would be bad . You could just use the gas line directly off the bottle and use the regulator to keep the pressure/flow set low and do it that way , a lot safer . Sarge

Hi guys new member here and looking to buy a bronco 14 but cant find much on them. The tractor has no attachments and would like to know what models use the same attachments. Looking to know more about the model as i cant really find mutch other than what i found on tractor data. Alo mostly interested in what snow blowers fit it and what i need to run one and possibly a mower deck. Doesn't matter what size.

Thanks for the compliments. He does a good job. I am proud of him and the work he does. After cutting and notching the lower mounting plate, the tank sits at least 6" away from the exhaust manifold as I pushed it into the nose as far as it will go without hitting the headlight sockets. They will be replaced with LED's anyways. Also I do not have a 45* pipe coming out of the motor. It is a magnum style manifold. It comes off the head but goes straight out because of the way its made. I'll get a picture tomorrow after I get it back. My son is welding the filler neck and vent/outlet bungs on it tomorrow. I don't think it will need a shield but if it does, it has already been planned.

Man, that tank looks awesome!! Thats some mighty fine welding! Do you think there will be an issue with heat? Plastic kinda insulates, but the aluminum might heat up a little faster. I am assuming you probably have a plan already, just curious. I am going to be picking up a GT-14 myself early next year, so I am watching all the threads carefully!! Randy

Nice work that Suburban ! Once bitten by the the Horse bug there’s no turning back your addicted !....I grew up literally in a Allis Chalmers dealership. I bleed orange . Found my first Horse (RJ) and had all intentions of making into a WD replica. After talking with @Dhodge learning some history and finding it was all over....I was addicted. Now just a little 2yrs later this is what part of my barn looks like now.

I've done a couple using power window motors. You can also use a small actuator to control the deflector up and down. What type of blower do you have? Single Stage short chute, SS tall chute, 2 stage? If you use the search feature in the upper right corner and type in "motorized snow blower" all kinds of threads pop up. Make sure you are searching "all content" in the little drop down to the left

Very nice work ...gotta like your jack stands! Nice job on customizing that steering boot! Be careful with that motor pulley you should be going with a steel one Those have been known to fly apart and strike in bodily areas not meant to be struck in!

Do not worry. We all have spelling mishaps Well I am not sure of prices in florida, or what deck you are looking at, so really cant say. Up north you get a lot of deck for 200, and also some decent ones for way less. There are people who think they are made of gold, but also some realistic people out there too I have often seen what appears to be OK 42" decks advertised at around the 75-100$ marker If you have a big lawn, you could consider a swept front axle and a 60" light duty deck. I have heard that is doable, and your 175 can pull it off I think, but that would set you back even more $$ What you are looking for, is a deck with a mounting system like this: I assume you have the mule drive to drive it? Just checked CL for your area. There is a complete tractor in kissimmee advertised at 150. Looks like a parts tractor, and it appears to have a deck. Cant comment on condition. Heck, you can even part it out and have a free deck and a few 100$ in the pocket I would guess.
  36. 2 points
Decks are really pretty plentiful. Some junk and some very nice ones. Craigs list should be very helpful.
  37. 2 points
Your yard size usually determines what size deck you need. 48" for larger yard, 42" for a smaller yard or one with a lot of obstacles.

I've been running rubber chains for about 5 years now. As far as traction, I can't tell any difference from the steel chains. All plowing is level or slight grade. Haven't felt any side slip at all. Granted, this is Virginia not Michigan winters! The greatest advantage over steel chains is NO marking on pavement so no frequent seal coating to hide chain marks. I run them on a GT-14 with limited slip rear and 'lots" of extra weight. Steel chains made my driveway look like a drag strip running bulldozers. Love the rubber chains and so does the wife!

I think in 1974-75 they used model 5080 and 5084 transmissions. Both 4-speeds with 1" axles. Tractor models 1-0140, 1-0141 and 1-0145 The 1977 8-speed should have 1-1/8" axles. Garry

My brother, Mike, has had a C-100 since it was new. It still looks like new, but it has a 12 hp Kohler in it now. It is an 8 speed. Well, he just picked up this 1979 C-121 Automatic, and he really loves it. Tons of power, no dents and the real patina. The faded paint was getting to him, so he tore it down and painted the whole thing...in about 3 weeks. He is going to call Terry to get the stickers for it. It looks real good...enjoy the pictures.

Yea my clown get up was years before the clown pranks started and it was still fairly acceptable to be a crazy clown When I said "freaking people out" it required nothing more then my presence - I was NOT running around jumping out at people, as it would be natural reaction to jack some Jack a$$ dressed like that & doing that too strangers . . . . . REAL BAD IDEA By the way . . . The reconstruction has begun
