Working on loader for the 520. I’ve been looking for a long time and have been close on a couple of deals but financially it never worked out. Decided to gradually pull all the pieces together to build my own. My wife got me the P.F. Engineering plans for my birthday and my father-in-law has access to some free steel. I still need to buy some steel but not a lot. My dad had a forty year old Montgomery Ward stick welder that still works really well and I practiced for a few months on scrap and got to the point where my welds look Ok and have decent penetration. The other pieces I’m buying as money allows and I find things on sale. Here are a few early pics of the bucket and the partially complete subframe.

Hey sports fans //// Been pretty quiet around here, I had another heart attack, mild one, a couple weeks ago, did angio on one vessel and put stents in 2 others. Big difference now, so I'm looking forward to a good winter in the garage, you know, 60 degrees, sunny, breeze, perfect WH weather!!! Still have not made up my mind if I want to do the electric or the flathead next, but I have enough cleanup work to keep me busy for a bit. The BEAST has a dead battery and a flat steering tire, so I need to tend to that first. Glad to be back, will start a new thread once I figure out which one I want to do!! LOL

My project is to sit here and read about the work that you guys with garages are doing and cleaning up leaves.

Well I posted on another thread earlier today about wanting a tractor or two back which were sold, "just to take them for a spin and tinker on". Then after walking by one which I DO have, I decided to take the time to get this old neglected girl going, plus it needs to be moved for winter storage. It's been sitting in the same spot since early April and hasn't even been started. Time has been my hobbies' enemy among many other things since starting a new job, but today it just made sense (only to me) to take a moment and make the sacrifice to just do it. "The hell with making money and satisfied customers" I shouted. Just kidding, but that was the basic thought and the reality. So I pulled the carb, gave it a quick spray cleaning and some new gaskets, charged up the battery while doing that and fired it up. It was really nice to just take her for a spin and get the juices flowing through all of the hydraulics. It's such a fun machine to play and work with, too bad I don't have the time to really get into fixing her up. Can't even remember the last time I started a new thread.

Happy Birthday @BOB ELLISON, we are all glad you were born! Enjoyed meeting you at the "Big Show" and look forward to seeing you again.

Is the best site on the net PERIOD! It’s my escape from my reality and keeps me sane... Who’d thought a tractor forum could do that . Thanks for putting up with my rants and raves that seem just to spew out . MOD’s you’re the best and don’t get the credit you all deserve ... even with the little trouble “I’ve” caused we hashed it out . You invited me back , remained friends (hopefully) and forgave me . The people here are the best . Always helping big or small and listening to what people have say . It doesn’t matter with this group. Heck if I needed a kidney I think I could post a want ad and probably get one . Karl for bringing us all together! Eleven years and counting .

I want to thank all of you guys for all the nice thoughts but. Please don't send me any of your wheel horse tractors for a present as I don't have any more room in my garage. But you can send all the money you want. THANK YOU ALL.

Thanks, and don't worry about it. I totally agree with you on all you are saying, and all those points was the first I told people was in the clear, but still got treated like an alien. I mean, why should I be a bigger crook than your neighbor, just because I am a bit further down the street. I'm not trying to slander anyone or anything like it, just laying the cards of this game on the table. It is just not quite gotten thru to me that the world apparently has changed that much . I'm still of the old school where a word is something you do not break. That may also be why I take it personal when some people did not even want to give me a chance. BUT.... Luckily a good bunch did, and that's all that matter. I intend to stick around, and that will hopefully also make it easier the next time over, should that happen. I also fully agree with you that this forum is special, and that is only due to the people here, so duly noted. Most are really nice people. Lets close that part of the story down on these words, and look positive into the future from this point on.

Thank you for all of your replies gwest_ca-(File Mod) You are correct, I had missed the second set of numbers when I had wrote the information down. So this machine seems to be from 75' with a 16 horse OHV Tecumseh. Thanks so much for your help. I did manage to get it running, however it is surging bad with fuel blowing out of the carb, could be loading up the engine (dumping)? Also the breather is dumping large amounts of oil onto the motor from the vent pipe, It does appear that someone has had this apart as can be seen from the pic trace amounts of high temp RTV on top. I would love to rebuild the carb as I have found a rebuild kit at my local ACE hardware store, However from reading another post here I had read that if those breathers are not reassembled properly they will blow out large amounts of oil making it appear to be gross blow by. I read the information that gwest_ca-(File Mod) Had provided and it would seem that the original motor was a 12 Hp? I am not sure if another branded 16 Hp engine will work with this chassis? Being that I really need this machine to get some work done on the property I am wondering if there is another motor that will work on this chassis with relatively low modification to the chassis? If there is, I can take my time with the minor overhaul of the original engine when I have more time. I have attached some pics, Again thanks to all for your assistance, And the warm welcome Eric

I'd look into that breather first as Cvans mentioned - if it doesn't have a ton of blow by you might want to have those injectors serviced . With the trans in that good condition I'd consider putting it in service - you could mow that yard in 5 minutes...lol . Sarge

I run Tractor supply belts with no problems so far. I do try to get OE for the drive belt though. "Colonel Potter."

I bet if you put an ad in the wanted section, you could get them all. You can buy fuel line locally at an auto parts store and you can rebuild the Carb. Fuel pumps are on ebay. "aftermarket"

Gotta love it when a plan comes together - it takes a phenomenal amount of leg work to move that many tractors overseas and keep the cost at least somewhat reasonable . I get why people are so intimidated about dealing with overseas buyers - there are so many scammers out there these days that it's gotten tough to sell anything to anyone - or buy from the other direction . I quit working on Weber carbs when I lost 2 European suppliers that I trusted - everyone else I tried to deal with either wanted to rip me off or wouldn't even deal with someone in the US . Craigslist and other sites have become so polluted with scammers it's almost not worth dealing with it at all - seems much of the market we're interested in has moved to Facebook sale groups and the like - but those have their share of bad people as well that lack the honesty needed . It's become a necessity to get straight cash in hand if you're selling something - there is no other trusted method to insure not being scammed or cheated in the end . This forum has some of the best folks I've ever known - right up there with the Land Cruiser community which is a pretty high bar . It's too bad some were rude , that is not generally how anyone is treated here and we take that pretty seriously - this site is a friendly place and rarely has any serious arguments . They do happen on occasion and the moderators handle things amazingly well in a professional manner - it is so refreshing compared to other forums . Off-site sales transactions are between the buyer and seller - the forum can't arbitrate that but generally everyone gets along just fine in an honest manner . Problems can happen and most times it's just a misunderstanding of some sort - but I will say that is actually pretty rare here . One thing that can hold you back on any forum/group is a lack of history with them or time spent with the group - you have to build a trust with everyone and from there it becomes easy to deal with them . Being someone new is tougher as it takes a lot more to trust someone that has just appeared on the site and may go away just as quickly . Not an excuse , but that's how I see a lack of trust can be formed to someone with a lesser known history . Just an opinion - glad to hear it all worked out and really looking forward to your build threads - congrats ! Sarge

When asked "why did you buy another one?" The proper answer is "because I'm going to sell that one over there". She will usually say "Oh, O.K." I just never get around to selling that other one over there. Works for me!!!

Which one, the 753 for mowing duties next year, the 520 loader install, 58RJ trans rebuild and engine install, oh and a couple more kohler engine builds. A guy can never have too many projects.

I keep hearing " You have to use genuine WH belts. HORSE HOCKEY! I was taking my deck of my 520 for the winter and found a chunk of wood stuck down in the PTO pulley groove. I had to use a small chisel and a hammer to get it out. No telling how long it was there. My 2 yr. old Napa green belt was unfazed!

Thanks everyone for the many welcomes & for the 854 manual link that 953 nut sent. It is very appreciated! There is a lot of good stuff in the Wheel Horse reference section! Unfortunately I can't get pictures to you for now since I lack the neccesary equipment & convenient access to the internet. I hope to get cracking on my 854 in the warmer days of next spring. It's too cold here in Ohio already! -Jerry-

I have a C120 almost identical to yours. Very reliable, and simple to work on. If I were in your shoes, and you truly want to keep it as a worker for many years to come, I would trow in a 16 hp K series Kohler. Either a good used, or a rebuild. You can do a complete rebuild for about 150$. The 16 hp is really nice, and really good on power. I find the 12 hp a tad too small. The K series is my favorite for the old C's

Leak or push your finger off the breather . I personally like Lucas brand oil / fuel additives/cleaners products. Hot Shot stiction eliminator will also clean out your oil and fuel system/ejectors. If need be I know a place that can test your injectors .

I will try that with the breather. I was going to remove the injector and I took that clamp off and didn't put it back on before recording the video. So before it was leaking with it on. Yes it did!

Was at the Sabres hockey game in Buffalo on Veteran's day. Between periods a guy come out on the ice and flies a blimp drone around the arena. It drops T-shirts bags of chips ect. like little bombs. Pretty cool. It was also pretty cool watching people light up the metal detectors!

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. IDENTIFYING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the ‘3’ steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. Chicken Soup) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. New Sign of a Stroke ——– Stick out Your Tongue NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist said that if everyone who gets this message shared it with 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Thank you for all the nice comments to all of you. Let me start this off by thanking the people who helped make this a reality. Steve, bob, Tom (the original one), Joe, John, Derek and last but not least, Kyle. Without each and every one of your contributions to make this thing work, it would not have happened. A better bunch of good people is hard to come by! Also a longer list of people from this forum and beyond has had a role to play, even though more indirect. To all of you! Thanks for trusting me! Thanks for helping me out! I truly treasure your efforts and trust in me very much, and among you, I now count a number of new friends. Ztnoo: Well your comment about bigger awareness, is right down the sore spot of this adventure. Not that this should turn into a rant, or an overly negative thing, but you hit a nerve. The big issues in making this thing happen found a solution because a number of people decided to trust in me, and I in them. But trust was also the biggest missing ingredient from so so many people that could have sold tractors or parts to me. To be honest, I have had the idea of dropping the whole deal many times, because of that trust hurdle. I have been treated rude, obnoxiously bad, and down right like a criminal by people both well known on this forum, and elsewhere. This happened again and again, when approaching them to buy a tractor, or parts. I Just don't get it. I'm not a Nigerian scam artist trying to steal your last mule drives and what not. My only hope and last comment to this dark spot in this otherwise good adventure is, that I hope that my interaction with those who did trust me, will rub off on the others. That would indeed make it a lot easier for an eventual next time. So back to the positive side of things This whole thing started with me trying to chase down one horse for my self. Hard to come by for sure, and then facing the ridiculous shipping and what not costs of a single tractor, made it tough. The idea formed bit by bit, and I ended up with a shipping solution that was relatively not that much more, and the costs spread over roughly 30 tractors, 2/3 of which are wheel horses. I will of cause keep a few for my self, but the wast majority will find new homes in Denmark and northern Europe. Some needs a whole lot of work, and basically is just a bunch of parts waiting to be put together, while others are in better nick. I sure know what this winters dark evenings will be used on. I will do a few restorations and custom builds, and I will put build threads up when time comes. Should anyone want to buy a tractor, implement or parts, then please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks Thomas

Too many to count lol...gotta get the new garage set up for one...then have a 701 in pieces to get back to...a C141 to get up and running...and a C125 that is slowly getting a facelift. But probably will end up building my engine for the 1277 so I can have my mowing tractor going before summer, and if I get real ambitious I need to split the 2n and overhaul the engine.
