I figured it was time to start a new topic for this build considering its come much farther than just asking questions about transmissions. this is my take on a 4x4. no where close to ready and i havent been taking too many pics along the way but here are some. It started as a 1973 16 auto. homeade front axle pivot mount, driveshafts, wheel bearing knuckles, and soon to be tie rod system

A bit off topic, but being courteous outside the forum is not as common as it should be. One thing that is easy and free is that when you see a family out in a restaurant with well behaved children and no faces in the cell phones during the meal, It is a pleasant surprise to the parents to take but a few seconds and compliment them on how good their kids are behaving. The looks in the parents' faces [especially mom] are just priceless. i am no saint in many ways and not always in public do i present as well as I would like . i figure that even an old grump like me can start somewhere.

Hello Wheel Horse fans, Ran across this site while searching for information on my 1979 C-81. The tractor came from my dad in 2003, and he'd bought it from the original owner. The C-81's only my second tractor in 25 years; the first was an A-100 dad gave me when he acquired the C-81. The C-81 has served three owners very well in 37 years and I'm planning to keep it running for many more. Looking forwarding to the journey... Mark

Since it was going to be in the 60's today. Decided to take a 1/2 day off and get the blade, weights and chains on my plow tractor. Giving the duty this year to the C105 with the 16 HP kohler upgrade.

Came across the first picture recently of my first and favorite horse. Father bought her in May 1967. That is my nephew in control. (He retired a few year ago as a CAPT in the Navy) The other picture was today after she hauled 750 lbs of coal up from the barn. Some irony there, in the background you can see a big blue boxy thing. That is one of 144 Fracing tanks (holding about 2.8 million gallons of water) being used to stimulate the 11 gas wells up there, and I am shoveling coal.

Just to add to that, my wife and I were Christmas shopping in December, and a group of teens came out of the store ahead of us. The door went closed and as we approached it, one of the girls in the group turned around, walked back to the door, opened it and held it for us. I think there may be hope.

I had forgotten that the throttle lever was loose and wouldn't hold the engine at a steady rpm so I replaced the rivet that holds it together with a fine threaded bolt and lock nut and have got that tightened down, now it holds at a steady rpm. I've also discovered that my volt meter is bad so I'm gonna need to find a replacement for that. I finished up putting the decals on and also decided to spray a clear coat over the Argent silver paint on the rims, what a difference that made. I used Rustoleum Crystal Clear and really like how the paint shines now.

If it was rustlers I know just the group to take care of the situation!

The tractors are great, but getting to know the people on the site is where it's at.

When I first joined this forum, one of my tractors had me pulling my hair out trying to figure out the problem. The members on here got me the info to get that tractor up and running and I have never forgotten that. I would like to say thanks to Karl and all the Mods. that keep this forum up and running. I also want to thank everyone that has helped me over the years. I try to do this every now and then ( can't say it to much ) so .

I joined the forum last spring and read that there was a show coming up in PA last year. At the time I couldn't go. Hopefully this year I can bring the ol lady, kids, and my dad if there's gonna be another one. Does anyone know a date if there is one this year in pa? I'd like to start making plans to get new tires, do the dash decal and few other decals, touch up paint, etc.

Picked up a Commando 7 today. Thought I was going to pick up a small horizontal, and find the vertical techumse 7hp. Put the jump pack on and a shot of ether got it started so on the trailer she went.

Hi everyone. Newbie to the forum here and newbie to Wheel Horse. Just picked up a 310-8 about an hour from home off Craigslist. She runs and drives and makes the snow blower spin. Came with side and rear discharge decks, snow blower, chains, wheel weights, and the mule drive (thanks Walt!) I'll be lurking around and searching the forums for info, but if there's anything anyone wants to share I'd be glad to hear it.

For those who remember the 1975 B-100 Automatic find: I messed with it again today. It has spark and tried to hit. I only had a few minutes, but I think when I can find more time, it will actually start.

Some times directions just change. I changed course too! I bought a 520-H that needs a motor, and when I look at this there isn't much of my Dad's tractor left, so..... I ordered up some new decals, and a set of solid motor mounts from A1 Miller and I'm putting the 10 back in 105. I just need a couple warmer days to wrap this up.

It looks as those in the mid west are going to get hit with an ice storm.I have been through hurricanes,tornadoes and ice storms.To me tornadoes scare the hel# out of me but during the last ice storm here I knew I was going to the ER.I would not wish an ice storm on my worst enemy.You guys in the northeast have seen them.Any stories?

We received our first substantial snow (enough to push with ) yesterday about 3" 3 1/2" here north of the KC area. So all day at work I was looking forward to playing in the snow with my B-100. Got home from work and parked in the street, put my insulated boots on and then couldn't get the garage door open, due to a busted spring. Finally got it up after a struggle. Then the died after firing up and would not re-start. SON OF A BISCUIT EATER!! So I checked the spark and then pulled fuel line to check fuel pump, both ok. So carb must need cleaning? How disappointing. My other worker is in the shed out back with rear discharge deck on it for leaf mulching and extra dozer blade and chains stored away in the back of the shed also. So I just pushed the B-100 back in the basement and grabbed the shovel. We a had a little pizza supper planned with my daughter and her boyfriend so I didn't mess with it any more last evening. The boyfriend showed up so I handed him a shovel and he helped me clear off part of the drive in front of the garage and sidewalk. Then as we are enjoying pizza, we could smell gas. I went down to check the , and saw that I didn't get the fuel line pushed all the way back on the carb and it had dripped a large puddle on the floor. Got that tended to right away and the house smells like gas now. All this on the coldest day of the year! We had about -8 this morning. AAARRGGGGHHH!! Stuff always happens at the wrong time, doesn't it? Ain't gonna have time to work on it until Sunday afternoon either. Forecast shows to be in 50s on Monday. Snow will be gone. Pushing snow with the is my favorite winter activity, other than staying in where it's warm. I'm not lodging a complaint. Things happen and I just thought I'd share my little story. You have to experience the to enjoy the , I reckon.

Getting ready to build a new engine for my 1277, and wanted a project to try the new welder out on anyway, so figured I'd build an adapter plate to mount a K-Series to my engine stand. I know some will say why not just use the mounting brackets on the engine stand. Well for one that takes the fun out of it lol and two I picked my engine stand up at the city dump and it was complete except for the four ears to mount anything to it. Here is the start of it...fixing to dig through the scrap pile and find a piece of plate. Will post updates as I get farther along.

The 312A with the louvered hood was sold from 1985 to 1987. The '85 and '86 share model numbers. The '87 has its own model number so could be different. The 417A also has the louvered hood.

Project "Angry Horse" has come a long way since I have been on here. not sure if anyone is still curious but the front axle is mounted with the piviot point, drive shafts are built, hubs are built and mounted, temporary wheels are on and its a rolling chassis. pics coming soon

I took advantage of the warm weather we had here yesterday. I replaced the garage door spring and put a carburetor (borrowed from another project) on the B-100. The carb is from a 12 HP C-121. The throttle chamber is slightly larger but I don't see any other difference. The throttle shaft is quite worn. It seems to run all right after some adjusting. It will get me by until I get a chance to overhaul the 10 HP carb. P.S. I bought some scented candles at the store also in case I stink up the house again with gas. Um......gasoline that is.

18 degrees and raining made my 35 mile drive home from work interesting yesterday. A trip that normally takes 40 to 45 min took me an hour & 30 min. This is not the worst I've seen though, a quite a few years ago I stepped out of my house on to the lawn & fell flat on my back. The grass was a solid sheet of ice. At that point I would have loved to go back in the house & call in to work. Unfortunately the reason I was leaving the house was to go on a call with a tow truck. I put tire chains all around on the tow truck and spent most of my day removing cars from the ditch. Two people (wearing cleats on their shoes) could actually push a parked car sideways because it was so slippery. I don't have any fear of bad weather driving, but that was one day when people should've just stayed home. We had some rain & cold weather on Tues. that caused the excitement in this clip from a dash cam in Oshkosh WI. This happened on a Hwy I travel every day. Thankfully there were no serious injuries.

We replaced the original H60 about 1990 with an HH70 to make it easier for my Father to start it.. Father was to frugal to spring for electric start and the H60 predated ACR which the HH70 has. Put new rings in the H60 and it is sitting on the shelf as are the front tires. That size is NLA and i wanted to keep then nice. I added electric start after I got her. No charging system just recharge the battery every 2 months and it is great. She gets frequent use year round as she is my "Chore" tractor. Lots of stops and starts and getting on and off. It is so much easier to get on and off her than her larger siblings.

It looks like I'm right smack dab in the middle of the predicted ice storm area. They're calling for up to a half an inch of ice in my area. It that happens I won't be able to get online for probably a few days, which is bad enough, but that also means no electric. Also, my daughter works tonight, she's an RN in Festus and has to drive home, the 30 miles tomorrow morning. She gets off shift at 7:15 am. They're calling for this stuff after midnight tonight. She isn't scheduled to work tomorrow night, or she could just stay there tomorrow. Please pray for her and all who have to drive in this stuff. And pray it either doesn't develop the way the forecasters are predicting or not at all.

I went and looked at it tonight, it's got 849 hours, and a bit more "patina" than I'd hoped, but really good bones. Looked at all the accessories also. They are all complete. deck is in great shape and it's a 48", dozer is also a 48", the wh cart is also the big one, a set of front wheel weights, tiller tines are much nicer than either of mine, a perfect set of hub caps, 2 "extra" rear tachamatic brackets and more documentation than I've seen with any tractor. Steve is right, going to need a trailer, and sell off some stuff! Then it wouldn't start.... Wiring issue, turn key to start, pops a fuse, turn key to run and jumped solenoid, cranks and no spark.... wiring harness looks good and unmolested. getting dark, I said I could make an offer but he probably wouldn't like it. He said he is going to have it serviced and call me when it's running and we'll start over, I get home and get a text he changed out the ignition switch and it's running.

Hopefully it wasn't heading to a scrap yard.

Saying thank you for anything you do for someone is a sign of civility which I think has been lost these days. Its as simple as not getting a response or wave from that person you just let in while sitting in traffic or someone walking by you as you hold the door open for them. I always try to show appreciation for anything anyone does for me. Thankfully we all feel the same.

They will be linked together by heavy cable. Just like choke and throttle cable. And of course adjustable. I have many more pics but they are currently trapped on a phone that doesnt like to cooperate. I know i have pics of building the pivot point and also seeing just how far it will pivot.

Could be a bad ammeter are you getting 12v at the + terminal of the coil with the switch on??

Richard I agree I have a no name 73 the owner said you have to take on my word it does run good. So took a chance. He was right nice running 8hp. The 1st time it fired up was special.

From the posted pictures something looks really wrong.The engine pulley seems to be much bigger than one for a manual transaxle.Secondly there is no idler pulley visible.The idler pulley should be under the top portion of the belt and pulled into engagement by a spring

Wait till you get 12" and the neighbors will be begging you to do their driveway. I had planned on chaining up my tiller for rear weight till I get around to making a ballast box/weights like other fellas have done here. Oh and thanks for the tip on the crank as I have one just like it to make.
