A friend of mine tells me to take a walk to the parts barn down in the back of the show. So hear I am wondering why? We get to the parts table he pushes a few air filter & parts over that is burying a piece of paper . The paper is an ad for a 420-LSE with 140 hours & that never mowed lawn! I said to Bill no way I am getting this the guy prolly wants upwards of 5-6k. So I call the gentlemen and he finally calls me back around 7:30 Friday night @ the show and we come to an agreement on the figure o had the wheels spinning out of the show just 45 minutes north and here she is after 10 hours of cleaning and polishing! Trailer pictures out on the way back the other are after cleaning .

So the perks of my "job" being self employed and having my girls while mommy goes to work, is that I tip-toe around the house in the morning while they sleep in and I hang laundry on the lines and check for chicken eggs, etc. Seeing this after I hung it on the line made me think of @ACman and I thought I should share some pictures of the day!

Thought I would share the pics I took from the big show! Enjoy! I put my setup last. I'm in the same spot every year if you want to visit me next year!

went to detroit yesterday and had a couple horses follow me home a 753 and 702 . The 702 a guys budy just bought a big building found it under a bunch of trash and he was going to scap it so i saved it . The 753 the guy used it to pull a boat around at his house he sold the boat so he did not need the 753 he also gave me all new decals for it the 753 has two head lights on top of hood they are round glass i have them to dont know if factory or not all in all a good day

6-30-1953 Workers assemble first Corvette in Flint, Michigan On this day in 1953, workers at a Chevrolet plant in Flint, Michigan, assemble the first Corvette, a two-seater sports car that would become an American icon. The first completed production car rolled off the assembly line two days later, one of just 300 Corvettes made that year. The idea for the Corvette originated with General Motors’ pioneering designer Harley J. Earl, who in 1951 began developing plans for a low-cost American sports car that could compete with Europe’s MGs, Jaguars and Ferraris. The project was eventually code-named “Opel.” In January 1953, GM debuted the Corvette concept car at its Motorama auto show at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. It featured a fiberglass body and a six-cylinder engine and according to GM, was named for the “trim, fleet naval vessel that performed heroic escort and patrol duties during World War II.” The Corvette was a big hit with the public at Motorama and GM soon put the roadster into production. On June 30, 1953, the first Corvette came off the production line in Flint. It was hand-assembled and featured a Polo White exterior and red interior, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, a wraparound windshield, whitewall tires and detachable plastic curtains instead of side windows. The earliest Corvettes were designed to be opened from the inside and lacked exterior door handles. Other components included a clock, cigarette lighter and red warning light that activated when the parking brake was applied–a new feature at the time. The car carried an initial price tag of $3,490 and could go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 11 or 12 seconds, then considered a fairly average speed. In 1954, the Corvette went into mass production at a Chevy plant in St. Louis, Missouri. Sales were lackluster in the beginning and GM considered discontinuing the line. However, rival company Ford had introduced the two-seater Thunderbird around the same time and GM did not want to be seen bowing to the competition. Another critical development in the Corvette’s survival came in 1955, when it was equipped with the more powerful V-8 engine.

As some may have seen on a previous thread, I may be picking up another Suburban, this one we determined as a 551. Well last night, I went over and drove it around some. Some observations, the fenders rattle a bit, and when the clutch is engage, there is a noise. We couldn't quite determine where it was coming from, but it appears to be in the belt cover area. Also, the gear shift lever got locked out of neutral and it would go into gear, but not into neutral. We pulled the gear shift lever out and reseated it and that seem to fix that. Interesting as it worked okay for the first few minutes before it did it. After pulling the lever and reseating it, no more issues. Engine needs to be driven more as it does cut out every once and a while. It has a push button switch on the dash to start it. I believe that should be a key switch, if I'm not mistaken. Also, where the throttle knob should be is the light switch. The throttle is on the side of the hood at the rear and is a slide type lever. I'm sure the lights are not factory, but maybe someone can verify that. The tail light isn't hooked up. It does have the slot hitch. Anyways, it's still is something I want. I think I might be getting it and the K-91 for the 401 I have.

Had two 20 ft sections of commercial antenna tower to move, my other hobby Ham Radio. So I made a moving dolly at work for the 400 lb base section and then hooked it up to a Horse, A Wheel Horse of course. Having fun with the 1054 !!

Hey guys, I just wanted to say I was really impressed with how well behaved the kids at the show were. They were very responsible in their operation of their tractors! I've been to so many car shows where kids are not allowed to do much of anything. At the show they are a major part of the action! What a great way to insure the continuation of our hobby than to get our kids into it, not to mention the quality time spent with them working on our tractors!!! Just observed and wanted to brag on the younger guys and gals!

That you for highlighting one of the MANY great things to come out of Flint, Michigan over the decades...All anyone ever concentrates on anymore are the negatives - BTW - I appreciate your threads - they add variety to my days!!!

Here are a few pics of some of the things I picked up. Suburban deck from Jason, plow (already mounted on my GT) from RedHorse54, set of 10.5" tires and rims, Bronco14 and deck (blue), electric PTO, and roller of a 551 I got from Tommy. First phase for the 551 is a rat rod, this winter possibly drastic alterations in preparation for next year's big show - you'll just have to wait and see - it's a secret.

After looking for a new muffler for my C-125 for a long time I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Sounds good but at those prices it should.

This is just one of the many reasons why I love RedSquare. As some of you probably already know, I threw a rod through the block on my 1277 while mowing about a month ago. Came home tonight and found this boxed up inside my front door...big shout out to @Bert for hooking me up with a new block...hope to have the old girl back up and running before long

just getting started on this forum,glad i found people who enjoy this tractor as much as i do and i hope to learn much more about it!

I bought a 953 a few months ago and I got a killer deal on a 10hp Chinese diesel. So I decided to swap in the diesel since the old 10 horse was getting tired. I started this project about 3 weeks ago and have most things ready to be put together but not everything is painted. I also did a 8 pinion swap in the trans. I have taken many pictures through out. One of my questions is my hydraulic cylinder and my pump both leak badly. Is there anywhere to get new seals?

I purchased D160 ,it is decent shape. I am starting the tear down this weekend. I have a friend out here with machine shop which I will have new rollers made for the mower deck. I'm going powder coat the machine. This is going to a fun project.

I'm sure I will once I get all the necessary parts...the plan is to rebuild the whole tractor so will have that project for y'all to follow as well

When I came in from watching three deer last night, I found two ticks had hitched a ride. So it was time to mow some trails. Rustoleum may mix a purdy red color, but Mama Nature has the best blue, green, and gold.

A few years ago in Granby MA a member @Rideawaysenior (Jack), was running the tractor pulls but it really wasn't a competition except for bragging rights. It was fun to watch what an RJ-58 could pull. Think he went up to 600 lbs. and still pulled it with no problem at all. They were just using a flat bottom sled so something like an old flat bottom boat might work for it and not tear up the ground. Also saw Wayne, @Crazywheelhorseman, out pull large farm tractors with his belt driven Wheel Horse garden tractor! Those Farm tractor guys weren't too happy. I'm sure people would like to try and see what their tractor could pull.( within reason and SAFELY!!!!!!) Maybe a simple obstacle coarse with cones which requires driver accuracy, not speed and then pull a sled???? Or, just an obstacle coarse??? Back up trailer contest???? Just thinking out loud

Given the world we live in, it is very important to involve our young folks in hobbies that encourage good family values and relationships. I think our horse hobby does just that. I know I feel like I made many good friends here and at the show that will last a lifetime! No better environment in which to raise our kids. As for the adults, I didn't even hear anyone cursing at the show. Great to see others setting positive examples for our young ones. I teach elementary school and so many kids lack these kinds of influences in their lives!

Howard...these guys are not right..................................................they are total heroes. If we all lived closer together, it would be in the same building with rubber walls.

Sun bake for a few hours is perfect for the paint. I did the same thing.

Picked up a nice 42" RD recycler deck that Lane Ranger was kind enough to trip over an haul from Indiana for me. Looked almost new. but I decided to tear it apart and go through it any way. Glad I did. Pics of the underside. Things look innocent enough: removed the little wing whooby dooby's still looks ok. Pulled off the baffle EEEKKK!!!! Look at all the crap trapped in there! No wonder the thing was so heavy. Back side of the baffle wasn't bad Coated everything first with rust converter where there was rust, then spray on bedliner.

looking great my trany is out in the sun drying after i triple etchted it and washed it off.

Rear wheels. In the home stretch, just have to paint the other side of these, the seat and them I can reassemble. The engine paint will be last

I may have found a way to keep the grass and sawdust off my socks while running chain saws and string trimmers. Might also keep these purdy legs from getting scuffed up.

"Straight From The Horse's Mouth", got this book from my son for Father's Day. Nice addition to the Wheel Horse collection. Interesting reading. It appears that as early as the 1970's the company had difficulty staying profitable. This speaks to the challenges of bringing the brand and tractor design back to life today. There's no question, the Ponds recognized a product opportunity and were able to capitalize on it to the delight of their customers for over 30 years. But the market and economics changed - unfortunately. A great success story and legacy. Quality, done right, Made in America!

Picked this up a few months back, very rough, but all there. Has a yellow GE deck, which I am going to sell, . I have not found the serial number tag yet but will post as soon as I get to it. Restoration to start soon!!!

Before my adventure into the Wheel Horse project, my Dad and I built a show quality Fordor Ford Model A. We participated in numerous shows all over Florida. BELIEVE ME when I tell you, the single fastest way to RUIN the friendly feelings and fun at the WHCC show would be to foster serious 'for trophy" competition. PLEASE don't do that!!!!!!!

This 953 jumped onto my trailer, also found a fuel tank, belt guard and a few other parts I had been needing.

Did the frame and trans for her suburban, and painted the engine and cover for mine,

I like gauges too - so a couple of years back I replaced the voltmeter and added a tacho to my 316-8. It meant fabbing a new dash panel but I think it was well worth the effort. Some say you don't need a tacho but I find it useful and...... I like the look. Andy
