I figured this might be a cool thread to put a name with a tractor..... Here are the two that my son and I will be dragging to the big show this year. Still need to figure out one more as we need a "backup". My son tends to be a little hard on his machine. Let's see what you all are bringing! Update- Here is what I believe are the final tractors I plan on bringing.

Spent the weekend with Son Mike and his family at Delaware Bay fish camp. The hard shells were cooperating, and it was good to see Mike was able to stand and pull traps after crushing his leg 18 months ago. Praise God and thanks to a surgeon that made no promises, but agreed to do his best to save the leg.

A pre-cursor to Preparation H...The Pond's experimental anti-hemmoroid seat proved to be a very unpopular option and was quickly scrapped in favor of a new attach-o-matic device for implement changes...

Will be bringing my son's suburbans and one of my GT14s. I want to bring the one I've given a facelift, Emory wants to bring the worker. Guess i leave a little more room for the rolling chassis I'm getting from Limited12 and who knows what else might follow me home.

Considering the fact that Elijah was a powerful prophet who came down to join Moses for Christ's tranfiguration it seems appropriate for a 16 HP GT.

This is on my "daily driver" The welded nuts came loose on the seat so I just used a ratchet strap to hold it on. It still shifts around though making it fun on my hilly property. The other straps attached to it are to keep my portable "garage" from blowing away. It already did that once and now there's a big dent in the fender of our van from it.

The belt cover must be in place for the clutch to work also. When the clutch is pushed down the slack created needs to land on the bottom lip of the guard. This in turn leaves slack for the drive pulley. if the lip is not there the belt hangs on the drive and driven pulleys so it can't slip. Garry

No Jim, I would blame the redness on the 25 minutes they spent in the 212F sauna.

    Definitely calander, centerfold material.

This is the ugliest seat on any of our horses now...the one on my 1277 was really bad but already changed it and can't find any pics with the old one on it

I say put a "Walker" muffler on there and keep a hillbilly at work, anyways working there for 19+ years there are a few different approaches to tuning the db/sound, the baffling also called "louver" tubes have louvers punched in them small to large straight pattern or opposing, then steel wool or high temperature fiberglass packing/wrap, then straight through flow design or internal partitions to divert exhaust flow inlet to outlet in an "S" pattern, then chambered so it's all experimentation till you get what you want, then there's Supertrapp brand where you add or take away discs to change sound/db levels,Jeff . (Louver tube in a muffler)

if you go with a 3" muffler body you can lower the db level , also the holes in the center baffle make a big difference , smaller holes make less db

Wanted to share a pic of Emory and his 61 suburban. We put our tractors in a local parade today with our tractor club. I built the carry all to haul his tractor behind mine. We rode about 12 miles total, so a little too far and too much traffic on the way back for him to ride his . He's the youngest member of our club and had a ball!

Just purchased a GT 550 with 360 hours. Has the air cooled Koller 20hp gas engine. It is a beast and with the 48 inch recycle deck it does an unbelievable job mowing. However, after about twenty to thirty minutes mowing the oil temp gauge starts rising going to red. The engine continues to run fine. The engine starts fine and does not smoke that I can tell. The oil I believe is fresh but per the dipstick it was low so I added some as part of the first use check and grease. Air filter cleaned along with foam filter. The fan compartment was very dirty so I blew it all clean. Still running hot. Took the side panels off today and the temp sensor area was packed with grass and dirt. Blew it clean but still running hot. When it heats up the low oil pressure light DOESN'T come on. I am thinking a bad sensor or Guage but perhaps it is the oil pump. I would like to think it is something minor but with my luck the engine is probably shot... Debating whether to take it to the shop but wanted to hear from the experts first!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, John.

5-30-1963 Lesley Gore sings “It’s My Party” on American Bandstand On May 30, 1963, a New Jersey teenager named Lesley Goremakes her first appearance on American Bandstand singing her hit-to-be, “It’s My Party”. Lesley Gore (née Lesley Sue Goldstein) was just a few weeks past her own 17th birthday when she performed one of the greatest teen-drama songs of all time on American Bandstand. Just three months earlier, she was an unsigned unknown performing anywhere she got the chance when Quincy Jones, then a staff producer with Mercury Records, saw and heard her in a Manhattan nightclub. In late February, Jones sat with Gore in her family’s suburban living room and helped her select “It’s My Party” from among hundreds of demos he’d brought for her to consider. Six weeks later, Gore’s debut single was finished and pressed, and soon thereafter it was on its way to the top of the pop charts—an achievement reached in the week immediately following her Bandstand performance. Though she was later nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the song “Out Here On My Own” from the movie Fame (1980), and though she continues to perform to this day, Lesley Gore clearly made her biggest mark with “It’s My Party” and its immediate follow-ups, including “Judy’s Turn To Cry,” “She’s A Fool,” “You Don’t Own Me” and “That’s The Way Boys Are.”

Looks nice....not as rough as the herculiner but still non skid. I probably should have removed the tie downs like you did. I just went around them. Went to local big box and picked up a cheap area rug to roll out if we have to tramp in it. Couple of bungees to hold it up out of the way

Have been trying to get the belt part numbers and sizes added to the IPL pages in the library so often check when one is requested. This one I had not done so it's next 107939 replaced by 93-9809 - (HB x 83.5" or 5/8" x 83-1/2"") This differes from Racinbob's post so suspect the online parts lists have more than one belt listed as often happens but fails to tell us what belt fits what model. Remove the belt cover from the 1054 and look at both. On the engine there should be a 3/16" bent wire device above the belt, be sure the 953 one is adjusted the same. Your cloth covered belt is fine! The idler pulley will have a metal device coming from behind the pulley that will "capture" the belt when the clutch is depressed; be sure it is rotated forward so as you push in the clutch it will contact the belt. The photo here is from another person who had this problem. Back off the bolt on the idler a turn, rotate the arm forward and tighten it. Hope this helps and,

I never saw a seat like that before!

Got that one off ebay Steve and you are correct, the back is not adjustable. Thanks! I'll try to add some more pics. Thank you! MTD no longer lists this model in it's parts inventory but Jack's and Parts Tree have some items. I had to rebuild the right angle gear box and replace the pilot and throw out bearing and all of those parts were acquired on ebay. The dash is all plastic and was prone to breaking in the area around the hood and sides so if you find one have plenty of fiberglass and lexan on hand for the repairs. These were sold as MTD, Farm King, Unico, Firestone, Greenball and others. Model 760, 860 and 960 components are pretty much interchangeable the differences were the engines ranging from 11hp to 14, 15, 16hp, all had the cast iron, ball bearing B&S engines. Here is a pic of the drive train and the partially restored dash.

Nothing wrong with that horse...as far as working it. That trailer, although it may not be a Wheel Horse, is worth $500. You can pull that horse on the trailer...drop the horse and then pull the trailer with the horse. BOOM-SHA-KA-LAK-A
