Gotta be with AMC on this one..... that ain't no frown on her face. My wife can't stand long grass hence she does most of the mowing and I keep them running. She does run a mean hydro. So I aslo tell her if one breaks might be weeks before parts come so we gotta have a backup or the yard looks like $crap and gonna go to seed.. So now we have a backup for the back up and no arguments...and yah constanly changing attachments is for the birds, so a horse for every season is the ticket.. I got my first horse in 1986, a 1067, that i still have and still use. Added a hydro in 2000 and wife had one when we got married in 2003. Never caught the bug till I found this place in a search for parts for it. Realized then I have a mini herd so they started breeding and now hooked on round hoods. Even went to (OMG) Illinois to get one. I did have a large herd of chrome horses (Harleys) but got disgusted by the cost of parts & accessories and hamsters. so figured this was a less espensive (and dangerous) hobby. Boy was I wrong there! Now paired my Harley herd down to two and, like others here, am always searching for more red horses. and I quote "Jim are you Red Squaring again?" means hanging out here and looking for more red...

Or you can do as I did when my wife started complaining. I got rid of her like an old John Deere.

I grew up on AMC's. My Uncle worked for them since I can remember. We had the Ramblers, Matadors, Ambassadors, Hornets, and almost the Pacer. Thankfully my parents had a bit of sense. AMC was ahead of its time as far as innovation and safety, but their downfall (in my opinion) was they never greatly changed the styling. They built good reliable cars when people wanted flash, and they never really caught up to the Big 3. I loved the straight 232. I joked that you could fix it with bubble gum and Barbie pins. You could take three cars (10+ model years apart), rip them apart and make one good daily driver. Good old days. Yesterday I replaced the thermostat in my mothers car - 2.25 hours in a 2003 GM 3.4 V6. In a AMC 323, 6.5 minutes if you took your time!

Had some milder weather yesterday so I got out to the shop last night to do some more work. Since the trailer jacks that I got from Harbor Freight have nearly 18" of drop-leg, I decided to cut them in half and weld casters onto them. This way I have the option to place a movers dolly under the bucket and have a completely mobile storage solution. I'll be able to roll it around the garage when ever I need to. I also got some more goodies in the mail yesterday as well. Dixon quick connects came in for the pressure and suction side of the hydraulic system. These will allow me to separate the pump with the hoses from the loader for storage purposes. I also got a set of dust plugs and caps. Quick connects came from www.universalhoseandfittings.com Last thing before calling it a night was getting a couple of coats of paint on the uprights and finishing up the hydraulic pump painting. The last painting needed is the midmount subframe and the front diagonal brace mounts. I think I'm down to a couple more rattle cans to buy and a jug of hydraulic fluid before finishing up plumbing.

Wheelhorse is like your favorite underwear or socks. You have a favorite pair and when they get old and holy you get another pair just like em'. Then you have two favorites! And repeat... up to 12 or however you feel the need.

I guess a WH 4 wheel wagon is an attachment.....I will (hopefully) attach it to one of my WH tractors. Anyway, I know the drill, so here are the photos! It is going to need some work, but it isn't eating too much so I can keep it around for a while!

Back in the early 70' a friend and I are riding down a back road at night in south Alabama in his 440 GTX. Not sure what the speed limit was but for sure we were exceeding it. Car comes up fast behind us and then pulls up alongside, my buddy say's it looks like a Jav and he's pointing like he wants to run us. Buddy punches it and off we go, Javelin stays right with us, after about 10 seconds light comes on, it's a state trooper!!?? We pull over, trooper asked why we took off when he pointed for us to pull over, buddy says in the dark the car didn't look like a police car and we thought you were pointing like you wanted to race. Trooper laughed and said that's what I thought, gave my buddy a ticket for 15 over the limit and said he'd let the racing part slid. Ah the good old day. Lets be careful out there. Chris in Florida.

So who's fault were the Gremlin and Pacer?

Not sure, but it looks like Roger Penske and Mark Donohue to me.

My wife has her horses and I have mine. The mare in background is the new horse I got my wife coincidentally the same day the 3rd load of tractors made its way home. And it was just a coincidence!

well you think about you can spend 500 on a wheel horse that comes with deck and blade and other things and you go get that with a commercial grade tractor that is not near the quality for much much more and will last 1/4 as long. i just love wheel horses, no plastic or cheap steel.

Don't feel bad...Only 2.5 here. Commando 800 used for mowing and snow pushing, D160 is a dedicated snow thrower and a D200 project tractor. The project tractor has rear pto, 3 point, added power steering, cub cadet super steer front axle (for better turning), ARK550 loader and a 22hp predator swap (bought with no engine to repair the D160). Lots of things left to sort out on that project...

You have to remember that the: Gremlin was sold as an economy car to compete with the Vega and Pinto. It offered more shoulder room and horsepower. In the beginning it was even touted that there was a maintenance manual that owners could do their own repairs. It was also sold with a fantastic warranty compared to other manufacturers as a marketing tool, not that there were problems. I would love to have the later rendition, AMC Spirit with AWD, for a winter car. They were raced over in Europe for two years. James Brolin, the actor, I think was one of the drivers. The Pacer was originally designed for a still-born Wankel engine which really hurt access to numbers 5 and 6 cylinders. I think the factory procedure was to drop the engine out the bottom, or remove the front sheet metal. Just like Jeep with the FC-series, it was easier to remove the whole cab! It did have some interesting design features with the right passenger door being wider to allow easier access to the rear seat. The Marlin was a "Me Too!" design that looked okay in its day. I owned two AMC products and wouldn't mind finding one to have as a cheap collectible. There is a fellow about a mile from me that has three Eagle station wagons in various states (drivable and up on stands) and a two-door Hornet as his daily driver

I seen this and had to pass it on.. The U. S. S.. Constitution (Old Ironsides), as a combat vessel, carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (i.e. fresh water distillers). However, let it be noted that according to her ship's log, "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and79,400 gallons of rum ." Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and68,300 gallons of rum. Then she headed for the Azores , arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine . On 18 November, she set sail for England. In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war ships, and captured and scuttled 12 English merchant ships, salvaging only the rum aboard each. By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. Her landing party captured a whisky distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home. The U. S. S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food,no powder, no rum , no wine , no whisky , and 38,600 gallons of water . GO NAVY !

I had an Uncle who made a career in the Navy. And He loved his hooch. God Bless him. And I thank him for his service.

I'm liking these guys already!! NAVY...can't imagine why it is the best branch of the service. You know...you can work up a thirst salvaging all that stuff. This really parallels my trip to the BIG SHOW. California would be proud of their water conservation practices.

Wow.. that's about 1 gallon of water and 200 gallon of alcohol per day per man. That had to be one boat load of drunken smelly sailors. .

Here are some photos I took of John's "car" horse during the 2015 Big Show. It was a hit with me and everyone who stopped and looked at it. A real combo of Wheel Horse parts and inqenuity!

Thanks guys! Kate (tractorchick here on RS) was nice enough to do an article on these since she saw them at the big show. Nice to get a RedSquare plug in there too. Karen (kthack657 here on RS) also did a nice article in the WHCC newsletter on them. Billy Albright, WHCC president, put a sign on the first one after he bought it which read " El Presidentes Car ". Then he drove it in the parade.

A couple of years ago this was happening every time I went to start my 310-8. I'd defrost the bend in the cable with a heat gun and fill the cable with WD-40, chain lube or PB blaster. Next day I would have the same problem. HEET fixed the problem permanently. Same cable, I had no issues at all last year. I havent had to plow yet this winter, so I dont know if I'll have to screw with some more.
