Well I would like to thank everyone of my Red Square friends who donated to my cancer benefit that was set up by Derek(octfst)Rehberg and his wife Tammy, Mike(55rj35)Wall and his wife Deb, John(brrly1)Campbell who donated the tombstone weights and a few others that helped out on this site! They held the drawing tonight but I couldn't make it up to see it in person. My wife Tammy and I really appreciate all of the donations that you have made! It will definitely help us pay some bills as I have not been able to work for 6 months! This has been a very rough time for my family and very hard on myself personally. I have been through chemo therapy and radiation and I am currently done with that form of torture. I am 3 months past that stuff and just found out that I am currently in remission which means I am cancer free as of now! I do still have some bad side effects from the radiation but it pails in comparison to what I had before the treatment. So once again thanks to everyone who made a donation and some who even made more than one donation! Very cool bunch of guys on this site! Derek has another tombstone weight from John brrly1 that is being raffled off on Sunday so you still have a few more days to make a donation and get another chance at a weight or a flat screen tv, a gas card or a Red Lobster gift card! So get ahold of him or Mike for details. Thanks to God and Thanks to all of you! Now maybe I can get back to my favorite hobby! Keith Hammerhead Jones Ps. To the moderators, if you could leave this post here under Wheel Horse Tractors for a long while, so more members could read it, I would appreciate that. Thanks

Picked up a couple on a local online auction, picked up today, Think I may be going green (environmental). Picked up a c 175 and a 64 ranger pedal tractor. This is my first twin, new snowblow tractor. I believe it is a 1982 series I. Took a bit to get running but seems to run OK. Thanks for looking Tom

The episode’s title is “Grudge Matchâ€. I can tell you now that I was contacted by the producers and asked to contribute some Wheel Horse photos for this episode. I have not seen it and not sure what will appear. The photos requested were of some of our 1964 Wheel Horse 1054's. I signed a release that provided the photos for their use. I do know that the producers have given me a "credit" that runs at the end of the show! *************************** SHOW TIMES: Grudge Match Premiere Date:December 03, 2014 - 09:00-10:03PM ET It's Frank vs. Mike when the guys take to the track for a grudge match drag race to see who has the fastest ride. Any successful deer hunters out there? If you like, post the pictures here. After harvesting over 100 deer over the past 60+ years, I participated in the most rewarding hunt of my life yesterday. I was mentoring my 11 year old Grandson Owen when he dispatched this deer instantly with a perfect neck shot at 40 yards with a .223 WSSM. We watched this deer for about 10 minutes before taking the shot. BTW, this is the deer I took earlier this year during the archery season.

I've been going through some medical issues myself lately. Have another procedure today. I am thrilled that you are doing better and I was wowed last night when I found out I won the weight. Take care. Mike

Keith, this site never ceases to amaze me with the members generosity and I'm happy to have contributed and that you're currently in remission. Thank you to all who have donated. If you haven't gone through a major medical expense, I can tell you first hand that the medical expenses are quite high and continue for a long time with follow-up costs.

R-Bob you could remind Mr. Saurus that the Big Ten had to let Illinois play Northwestern in the last game of the season for bowl eligibility because there was nobody left either one of em could beat. Iowa, 7-5.. Illinois, 6-6. Notre Dame also 7-5.. More convincing than Illinois, who took their sister Northwestern to the prom last Saturday..

Hi All, Didn't think I was going to tear into this one for a while, but ended up taking it apart today. I sure wish they were all in this shape! I got this trans in a deal a couple of years ago and its just been sitting. I am going to rebuild this for a 400 I'll be restoring in the future. All gears are in great shape. A few of the bearings are shot but some are usable. I have all the bearings and seals to rebuild a trans, so I will change them I didn't get many pictures, but here's what I got. Will get more pictures of when its all cleaned up. Thanks, Jake

OK...how is this for logic??/ Notre Dame shuts out Michigan...Northwestern beats Notre Dame...Illinois Beats Northwestern......soooooo...Illinois beats Michigan!!! :happy-wavemulticolor:

Hi All, I bought this c105 back in august, but never got around to posting any pictures of it. When I got it, it didn't run so I didn't know much about it. It turned out to run great, but smoke terrible, it looked like the whole neighborhood was on fire when it ran for 10 mins. lol In the deal I also got another c105 which I sold to AJ, and a c125 parts tractor, that had a 12 horse I was told was blown up. The kohler actually ended up being a good motor, so just yesterday I swapped it on. It was a hydro rear end so I did the pulley swap like martin did on his, it does make them a little bit quicker. It sounds like the belt is rubbing now, but it may be the idler pulley, it always made some noice...I will have to find another pulley on try it. I also swapped one of the newer style fender pans on it as the plastic one was shot. Anyways, this isn't the prettiest tractor to look at, but here it is. Thanks, Jake

I made these for cheap using carriage bolt and black iron Pipe cap. On this blade the support is welded to blade. On another one I bent the steel and bolted it using one of the blade edge bolts. Product improvement will be to weld the carriage bolt to the pipe cap. Currently the bolt head wears off and the cap falls off after about a season and a half.

My main snow remover this year is going to be my recently acquired 520H. Mounted on it will be the tall chute I got at the end of last year. Can't wait to feel that Onan torque and compare it to the 416-8 from last year. The plow that came with the 520 won't be used. Probably sell it. The 522xi with the mint single stage won't be used either. I still have my wrangler with plow on standby. And the walk behind 15 year old murray for walkways etc. The 520 "can't wait" for the 500 ft driveway battle is my main battle tank. Just have to put the chains on. And no snow cab yet either. Glenn

Kohler recommends a low speed idle of about 1200 +/- 75 rpm's. Anything below that and you are not slinging enough oil to lubricate the innerds properly. As Chris stated above, full horsepower is achieved at 3600 rpm. Since you don't need full power just to putter around, my theory is that any speed between 1200 and 3600 rpm is adequate.

With the snow we had here over the Turkey holiday, it brought down quite a few branches around the farmhouse. One biggie coming right across the front of my Durango and YJ about a foot away from the front bumpers on both. I decided that the remaining branch and to exit before I had an insurance claim. We were supposed to do it with the Bobcat Saturday but it was more important to get the grain dryer running again. 280 acres of corn to harvest and we can't seem t get it below 20% moisture. The mill bangs us for anything over 16% so the dryer took precedent over the 2 foot wide x 20' long tree branch. Well Sunday morning after I sighted the 30-06 I got a bug up my butt after seeing freezing rain in the forecast and decided the branch was coming down before it cost me financially. I got out the 10' ladder, chainsaw and trimmed some pesky branches before getting th big guy. I climbed the ladder with my trusty Farm Boss in hand and made my bottom cut then attacked it from the top. I was cutting slowly so that i could more or less just lay the far end down and then cut through the back by the trunk to complete it and the clean up. I was doing nice and the branch was slowly lowering down, then SNAP!!!! It broke off, falling the 14 feet down breaking the ladder like a toothpick and sending me flying ass over tin cups. Somehow I realized this was going to end badly and threw the saw away as I flew upside down. I landed on my left arm/wrist, shoulder, back of my head and somehow my right leg got twisted under me and landed on the ladder remnants. I laid there on the ground for a second moving appendages, wiping the blood from my leg and running down my neck from my head wound where it hit. I got up walked inside and asked my girlfriend who graduates as a doctor in 2 weeks to make sure everything was where it belonged and help me clean up. After my exam I have a stage II strain/sprain of my lower forearm, soft tissue damage in the same area from the impact of a 240 pound guy on an itty bitty wrist, scratch on the back of my head from the rock I landed on but no concussion. Right leg ok just scraped up. I'll be fine but my forearm and wrist is 3 times its normal size from the trauma. Gonna be ok, just completely useless as a productive appendage for the near future. Its wrapped and Iced as much as I can while working full time. It could be worse as I have no healthcare until January...This wasn't meant to be a pity party for me but an educational post. I have been cutting trees for the better part of 25 years, done some really stupid things without any planning and never got hurt...even when you plan...stuff happens that surprises you. 14 feet in the air is not the place to be without a contingency plan. I wont be splitting wood anytime soon as its hard with 1 hand to load the splitter and stack it up. I will have to find a new plan for heat at least for a couple weeks until my wing can flap again..but at least I am still here and I threw the saw so it didnt cut me in half

Pedal tractor will be a hit, I'm sure. I never saw one of those before. Probably good I don't have that . . . you'd likely see me riding down the street after a few you-know-whats

Soaking may work for yours, but did zero for me. I think it largely depends how much weather exposure they had. I got two words for you TORCH (carefully) & BIG PULLER (harbor freight), okay . . .three words . . . I say carefully so you don't damage seals because you have to giter HOT. I knew ahead I was replacing mine.

Today it is raining and cold, and the heater is working well in the garage. The wife's car is out since she is at work today, so I have a 12 x 24' clear space in which to work. So I pushed the B-60 into the garage and started to work on the wiring and the fuel system. I cleaned the fuel pump and made sure it was working. It had been bypassed with the fuel line going straight to the carburetor from the tank. I cleaned the carburetor. Not bad. I put a new shut-off valve and grommet in the bottom of the fuel tank. Grommet was cracked and leaking. I replaced the fuel filter. The ignition switch was okay. The PTO interlock was okay. The clutch safety switch was not working, so I replaced it. I cleaned and reset the points to .020" and replaced the condenser. My coil had some suspicious looking cuts and cracks in the control wire, so I replaced it with one taken from a K181. Next, I installed the old interlock module. It didn't seem to make any difference whether it was wired into the safety circuit or not, I still had spark. So my opinion is that it is bad. I have a new one coming from eBay. Anyway, after a little coaxing, I got the engine to run, and run it did. Purred like a tiger. No smoke, no knocks, no unusual noises. Transmission worked great in all gears.

We NEED a video of someone on that pedal tractor that thing is cool!! at first glance I thought it may have been an actual wheel horse setup so whoever did that kudos to you the way the belt is on it just screams wheel horse to me....extremely simple but probly works great and lasts forever. I am really curious as to how easy it would be to move and ride? if its somewhat user friendly it would be awesome to see it in action with a reel mower on it. couldn't imagine the looks you would get from the neighbors

Looking forward to watching it, I also enjoy that show, and looking over their shoulders to see what's in the background. In the last few years, have seen at least three different TV shows with a 'moment' shot of a Wheel Horse in it. Only takes 1/1,000,000 of a second to spot our Red Wheel Horses. Glen

The 54 inch plows and earlier plows had skids. The skids were on 3/4 round stock rods with half rounded cups welded to the bottom of the 3/4 inch rod. These skids could be adjusted up and down for various applications. The later plows had skids like Garry has in his guidance above. We made four of them four years ago in my dad's blacksmith shop. We made the cups heavier for longer wear. Here are some of the pictures. Here they are on a 54 inch plow: These are the ones we made:

I will be using my 857, Little Red Riding Hood, this year. I have never really plowed before so it should be interesting. I even have a flashing light that plugs into the tractors cigarette lighter so I can be seen by any and all traffic while plowing out my house and other houses. Might be overkill but its funny so so its worth the laugh. The light is not seen in the image.

I think most would tell you from the forum to drop everything now, even if your house is flooding and go get that thing! Its a rare model and a little harder to find parts for but for the price , I would buy them everyday at that price.

Just thought I would post a pic of my latest creation...a homemade small engine dyno built real cheap. Its actually somewhat accurate too. Not really interested in 100% calibration but it will tell me if what I do makes an engine better or worse. And let me know where my peak torque is. Also works good for breaking/breaking in new engines! Haha

Ken - Come on! Just 1 video of the 420 blowing some light snow would be so COOL! I bet if you got the right shot it would be used as a photo for the calendar. PMain - Nice cab and tractor. Did they give you the option to have a black cab? Eric - great choice. Red Riding Hood will feel right at home playing the snow with the right winter gear! Glenn - I am shocked you are going to leave the xi under wraps. You were so excited when you got it. You should do yourself a favor and get it out at least 1 time. Maybe to compare the 520 vs. the 522. They both have the tall chutes. Just make sure the xi is in an area you know has no rocks or material that may ding that pretty new blower up!

That lever is connected to the PARKING PAWL inside the transmission. When you engage (push DOWN) the lever, the parking brake is relaeaed. What you have is typical for the age. As long as the spring hold tension on the lever, it should be ok. When pulled UP, the parking pawl (brake) is engaged. DO NOT EVER pull up on the lever in a PANIC STOP. doing this grinds the parking pawl into trans gears which ruins both...as well as the hy7dro pump. Metal filings get into the pump and scar the brass machined surfaces.

You are being a bit hardheaded about this. I and several others told you to remove the head and take some photos but you seem to want to go in another direction. Asking for advice and then ignoring it will do you no good. Most us us speak from experience. Since you admit you are a novice, the smartest thing to do is follow directions from those who have been there and done that. Smoke coming from the starter is not a good thing and you may have burned the starter up. It doesn't take much to do that, especially when it is old. Now you have to see if it still will do the job. First remove the plug and turn the engine over till it stops throwing oil out of the plug hole. Check the oil in the crankcase to make sure that it is not overfilled. Put the plug back in and try to turn the engine over by hand. You should be able to do this even though you will get a considerable amount of resistance. You will have to force it past top dead center on the compression stroke. If you can turn it by hand, then try to start it with the key and the plug in. Make sure you are using a hot battery. If it turns over at the normal speed. the starter is most likely OK. You will not get an accurate reading with that type of gage. You should have one that screws into the plug hole for a good reading. Now pull the head and take the photos.
