Firstly, I'm doing this on my kindle fire HD, so I Hope it all look's ok and the pics appear. Image quality not good, as it only has a forward facing camera (for Skype), but I still tried it. Last couple of weeks, I've been shifting my dismantled Lathe over to my other place up in Horley to where my Horses are while I still had the Van (selling it soon). Now fully reassembled on a proper stand. Just to make it feel at home and not get lonely, it has company-- Needed a decent Drill Press & the larger Milling facility is a handy bonus. It's not the best quality in the world, shame it's not a Bridgeport, but will serve my needs for Carb & Fuel pump work. Lucky to have had my neighbour bring his Mini Digger around to lift it onto the Stand. Yes, I've had a lot of it apart and meticulously cleaned, greased, adjusted and checked for tolerances etc. Just need to finish Tramming the table-column alignment, then it's playtime. Actually, I've already used it to mill several flats on a newly made Counter Shaft for the Lathe. Lots of jobs I can get on with now. So if you like machining pics , I'll do some when I work on my front Rims and Carb Throttle Shafts etc. Regards

I suppose for the right price anything is for sale. But the big question is....."Would the new owner be able to make money selling the classic Wheel Horse line again"? I hate to say it but probably not. The majority of homeowners just wont shell out the almost 6K for a tractor with a 42" mowing deck when there are plenty of choices (less quality of course) for less money. I love the WH brand but have never bought a brand new one and probably never would just because of the cost. I don't thing just making and selling parts would be lucrative enough to cover the investment of buying the WH brand. I also think that the new Wheel Horse would not have the old tried and true motors we all love, but rather an EPA restricted OHV all aluminum motor that would not last or perform like the K series and Magnum Kohlers. Hate to be the bearer of bad news.....only my opinion of course. Mike............

I have been working on this for a few weeks now and have finally finished it. It was pretty much a basket case when I got it but I had enough parts to get it back together. It has a K-321 14hp. in it but it runs good and doesn't smoke. It has some new parts and stuff I had in the shop. Enjoy the pictures. There are more on my web site.

It's an ARK Loader 9740FL01-05024 circa 1974 to 1979 in pretty nice shape for it's age. It needs some minor metal repairs but nothing else at this point. Hoses look good. Some minor seeping at the hose ends. Good and tight throughout. It was mounted on a 312-8 speed prior to my purchase about 25 miles from my home. Cessna pump, mount and belt and all the frame and under carriage mounts as well. Bucket is in great shape! This will first go on my 416-8 to test and see how the hydraulics work. If OK or after any needed repairs, it will get to painting and put it on the 520-H.

While I was at the Mt. Gilead Farm Days Show, I hung out at the farm auction most of the day. I didn't get any of the 4 WH's that were there for sale, 3 square hoods and one black hood, but I did get a bad sunburn from waiting around for hours! I also was the only bidder(except the owner was bidding it up to $50.00, how's that work?!) on this pretty rare mid mount grader blade for a Toro Wheel Horse. I won it pretty quickly and wasn't about to let this get away. The seller had 2 side mount sickle bar mowers for sale too, one fit a C Series and was a huge heavy set up. It went for a measely $125.00 for crikey sakes! The other sickle bar was an older unit but nice and it went for $125 also! Dang, I shoulda bid on one of them. So I got the grader blade for $50 and was happy. I took it home and tried to mount it on my 310-8 speed machine but the lift brackets didn't line up for some reason. I'll have to figure out how it will fit on the lift bracket. It also came with the rear axle quick attach set up! Not too bad for a few hours in the heat!...KJ

First step is to check the spec. number of the engine. Then look at the Kohler parts list, and see if it came with a regular piston. If so, after having the cylinder checked for damage, have it spec'd and get a regular piston and rod to fit. Don't bother replacing the balancing gears when rebuilding. Oh, by the way...

It's not too clean though Craig. The paint pot is hiding behind the Raider's Wheel-

Thanks for the replies so far and for the email Dave. The only broken part I found was the high low shift fork which I welded back together. None of the teeth are broken off the gears. I had water in it so some of the bearings are getting replaced with all the seals. I am not going to work in very hard, this tractor was quite molested over the years so I was going to put one of my small hit and miss engines on it and drive it around at shows. The high low will work good because depending how the engine sits on the frame the belt will either be on the three inch flat belt pulley or around the twenty inch flywheel which will change input speed drastically. Maybe I'll post pics.

While I was at the Mt. Gilead Show, a guy I talked to a couple times about his WH's came up to me and wanted to know if I wanted to buy the 2 he had and they were the one's we talked about the past couple of shows. He said one was a 1956 RJ35 with a Clinton motor and a mower deck, it was restored several years ago, before he bought it. The other was a 1960 550 in original condition and ran 2 years ago. I said I'd like to see them and set up a time. I went Wednesday to get them and he wanted to sell them as a pair. $500 for the RJ35 and $250 for the 550. He wouldn't take no less for them so I had to pay full price. The RJ35 looked great but the 550 was a little rough and it had a replacement H60 motor on it. It was the old style H60 with the good old heavy duty recoil starter on it and steel low rise engine mount, not the correct cast iron one though. So I bought them both and my buddy got the 550 sight unseen and I took home the RJ35. I was having a good time on the way home looking in the back of the mighty van seeing the old girls sitting there, going home to join the herd. I cleaned them both up a little bit and they look pretty good, especially the 1956. I'll have to do some derigging on it but not too bad. It looks more like a 1955 to me than a 1956. I'll have to check the inside of the rims to see what color is underneath the tires. I can tell that the tires were not taken off the rims when it was repainted some 10 to 15 years ago. The PO had it for 10 years so it had to be restored before that. Any ideas on what model this is Clay or any other RJ35 guys can chime in on this subject. Thanks in advance. Hammerhead

I picked up a motor today for my boat, a 1958 35hp Johnson Super Seahorse. This is a pretty rare model that is seldom seen. The paint is all original and it is in real nice shape. I bought it from the guy that I bought the boat from. He confirmed my boat is a 1958. I managed to get one side of the boat 85% polished today. This is roughly the 8th boat that I have polished. You can take it to the bamk that it will be the last. My fingers have been numb all week due to either carpal tunnel or arthritis and this has only made it worse.

I agree with this 100 percent. Nobody was screaming that we were heading into an ice age when we were getting blasted by blizzard after blizzard all throughout the 70's and 80's. I can remember there being so much snow almost every year that we had no place to push it with my Dads 12 Auto. It was normal to get 6+ inches of snow twice a week all winter long and a couple storms with 12 -18 a couple times a winter here in the northeast. I was making ore money plowing than I was cutting grass in the warm weather. So much so that a friend pushed his Dad to buy tractor to try and cut into my business. Well his dad bought a little John Deere that couldn't push 3 inches of snow and the people he stole from me came back after the first big storm when he couldnt clear them out!!!

Thanks for all of your help, I will have to actually measure to to make sure. Your response really helped to be cautious.

I think it always seems the opposite! It's worse when your not prepared!

All this snow talk already is just like dangling a carrot in front of me. It can start snowing tomorrow as far as I am concerned. I hate going around in circles mowing the grass...would much rather run sidewalk with the snow blade. Bring on winter.!!!
