My dad loves to make things for his grandchildren and he did a great job on this rocking wheel horse tractor for my sons first xmass. My dad said he has around 90 hours in it. My boy loves it and so does his three year old sister.

Wheelhorse/Toro and most manufacturers will stress that the recommended way to run your small engine equipment and especially your tractor is to run it at full throttle. This results in the recommended cooling and lubrication of the engine, the correct implement speeds off your PTO and the proper RPM's for the transmission. (Especially hydros). Not running at or very near full throttle simulates lugging or drag on your engine, transmission and implements. Picture this....................it's a hot day and high humdity so you mow your grass with the throttle half way open. Without your engine running wide open, you are not achieving the horsepower the motor is rated at. You are turning a mower deck that is not rotating at the RPM it was designed to run at and thus is not cutting the grass efficiently. The transmission is dragging since it too isn't turning the RPM's it's rated at causing an effect not unlike being driven uphill or under a heavier load and the biggest thing is you are not providing the cooling air passing through the engine's cowling to disipate the heat the engine is creating. Over time, this will kill the engine more so than if you just run the motor at full throttle when you are doing any kind of work with it and that includes simple moving from point A to point B.

Some of may of read I had to sell my C-125 to pay for my 518-H, sad to see the little C go but sometimes these things have to happen.. But not always go to plan.. While speaking to the winning bidder on the phone he just happened to mention he was buying it to replace his old WH with a very worn cutting deck.. Before I knew what was happening I heard myself ask, "out of interest what are you doing with your old WH"? So I ended up part ex-ing a C-125 for a er... C-125... Im not sure if Pete is kissing the hood or banging his head saying "not another one".. Not being a chap to hang about at times, after a quick drive round the garden the engine was soon pulled out. The engines new home? Well it was going to go into my little Raider 10 to replace the non running 10hp lump. Thirteen min's later the Raiders engine was out only find the new engine a K301AS with it's rubbers and mounting plate won't bolt up to the Raiders chassis A bit of a re-think was needed..

My grandfather passed on this past Christmas morning and I will be bringing a few of his tractors home to add to the collection. He was into the Cubs pretty strong and probably had forgotten more about them than most know. I used to share my WH projects with him and actually had gotten the SK486 I am working on now as he knew he would not have time to make good use of the engine. I have a handful of other tractors that I need to sell or part out for my grandmother and shelves of parts and Kohlers to sort. Just wish I had the space to keep it all!! Anyway...... Here are a few pics of what I will be bringing home in April. I tried talking him out of this seat for one of my WH's..... Needless to say, It will prob. stay on the Cub now!!!

Here are some I put on my round hood, they would be basicly the same set up they used on your tractor, the mounting bar is factory, the lights are walmart $20 50w halogen driving lights, they are bright, I don't have any real good pics of just the lights, but can get some if you need them. Yes the wheels are not the right color, this was a few years ago before it was done. Another option you have is to buy a hood from a newer short frame tractor that has factory lights, I hate to see you cut up a nice hood, they are getting harder to find not cut as time goes on.

While I cannot speak for all of Lucas's products, I will RAVE about their Power Steering Stop Leak. I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 with a zillion miles on it and had a leaking power steering rack. Local repair place wanted to swap the rack. I tried the Lucas product for $8.00 and haven't looked back. It has been over 2 years and haven't had to add fluid once. With that experience I would not hesitate to try one of their other products.
