Since winter in the majority of the country has been very weak and most of us have not had a chance to use our snow plows or blower, I vote we just skip to spring? I want to install my mower on my tractor and mow grass. Anyone agree?

I don't know the best place to put this so I'll start here. It would be nice if anyone posting a classified ad would put their location in the description. thanks

Which is excellent because I mistakedly bought 2 new wide bezel lights when I thought I was needing narrow bezel ones!

Here's the 551 wiring diagram. (click to enlarge) Post a wanted ad or watch ebay for that switch plate.

That's the exact same #5453 panel & generator light that's in my 1056 - with the exception of the plugged lighter hole. Can't add anything more about the ignition switch other than things get changed over the years. I had an 856 with the wide bezel generator light: Wheel Horse probably used whatever light style was less expensive or on their shelf at the time. 1277 dash:

I'll throw a different number out there! The Lube Recommendations manual states 2 1/2 Qts for a bunch of the early S/G big blocks. Interesting that it lists only 1 1/4 qts for a 953 though, I didnt think they used the shallow pan? The manual is available in the files section:

I remember too Kelly. sliding down the drift from my second floor bedroom window because you couldn't open the front door, the drift was so high. That was my senior year of high school in Buffalo, NY, I'll never forget that one either. People stranded on the thruway for days, trapped under overpasses by the drifted snow. IIRC, people were dying in their cars before they could be rescued. Those lake effect snow storms are incredible up there.

The new engine sounds good Andy, glad the dipstick was the right one. What I can't work out is...... Why the camera shaking was in time with the engine?? Maybe as Marks suggests you (and the engine) need some alcohol :ychain:

Paul Most likely it is. To confirm your suspicion, measure the DC voltage across the battery WHILE THE ENGINE IS CRANKING. If it drops below 10 volts, the plates inside the battery have deteriorated from sulphation and are acting just like corroded wiring terminals in the starter circuit. Believing a newly rebuilt SINGLE CYCLINDER engine might need 50% to 100% more battery capacity to break in is not true. If it were, we would never find a battery big enough to be able to start a rebuilt 8 cyclinder engine ! Going with a larger CCA battery in an environment subject to significant vibration may not be wise either. To allow a battery to produce larger CCA, manufactuers put in a larger number of MUCH THINNER lead plates to gain additional surface area. This configuration allows for a larger chemical reaction to take place and hence larger current flow. Thinner, weaker plates produce more current but are more susceptible to damage from vibration. I have said this many times in the past - and it's probably worth repeating - anyone who has a number of vehicles or lawn care products containing lead acid batteries should own an inexpensive battery load tester. HF has them - so does SCHUMACHER. A 30 second test with one of these can save you $$$ worth of unecessary parts replacements and hours of troubleshooting. Some folks who know this to be true may even admit to saving DAYS of troubleshooting. p.s Failing all the above, you might also want to check for the 30 - 40 thou lift from the ACR mechanism during slow speed cranking.
