Tecumseh 8hp carb problems

I have a 1970 model 8hp tractor (work horse) im new to these things and im restoring this one. I need to get the motor running properly before i pull the motor off the frame. Its a Walbro carb i had it running good over the summer but after the vaccum fuel pump failed (diaphram?) i put it up until recently. I rebuilt the carb the other day and put a new briggs and stratton fuel pump on not Knowing if it would work or not. Is it too much pressure? How do i adjust the carb? Is the needle under the bowl a shutoff or some type of regulator?

Kohler K91 Schnacke recoil cable problem

I have the schnacke recoil on my RJ58 and I have a NOS cable and handle for it. Everytime I try to put it back together the cable pulls out because all that holds it is that slightly curved washer. If I make it tight the pulley wont turn and if I loosen it, then it pulls out. Its very frusterating. What is the torque spec for that center nut? Am i missing something? Im ready to weld the cable to the pulley and be done with it. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

1960 Wheel Horse Value?

I recently stumbled across a 1960 Wheel Horse, looks to be a Suburban or similar model. It runs great and appears to look in good condition in the pictures!
$300 Score

My local Toro dealer that is about 1 mile from my office takes in a lot of Wheel Horse tractors for trade-ins. Last fall they took a trade-in of a 1987 418-A with plow, snow thrower, and 42" RD deck. The only problem is the 418-A transmission/pump is shot because it only goes in reverse but that's no big deal because I have a spare pump and tranny sitting in my shed. Anyways, the shop owner was asking $400 for everything which is a good deal but I still wasn't buying it. Well, last Friday I went in and slapped $300 down on the table and he agreed!!

Other than the transmission, the tractor & motor are in very good condition with only 540 hours on it. The attachments, especially the deck are also in good shape although the snow thrower chain is a bit stiff because it sat outside since last September.

This unit will be going to my Father who is in bad need of a hydro tractor. He currently uses a C-101 but his arthritis makes the manual lift uncomfortable.

By the way..... this near perfect condition $200 find will also be installed on the tractor for my pop

I just got back from an auction in Parksburg, PA where a WH 520H with 750 hours sold for $500. I was very tempted to bid, but I just have too many project tractors, and no space for even one more.	The Onan 20hp sounded good, and started easily.	The body sheet metal was in great shape with almost no rust. The deck, however, was shot full of rust. The hydraulic pump had a minor leak, and the kill switch on the neutral lever needed adjustment. You can see pictures of it on AuctionZip for 2/21 at Griest's Auction (zip 19365). After it sold, the buyer came to me and asked if it was a good deal. I told him that I thought it would go for $700-800. Now that I'm talking about it, I wish I had bought it.	If it had been an 8-speed, I think I would have had my hand up.

Grease fittings.....

Quick question for the wrenches here, please.....

I want to put grease fittings in some pedals I will be using on my mystery build. They're probably from a mid-80's 300 or 400 series 8 speed, but these didn't have the factory grease fittings. What size drill and tap do I need? I think (?) grease fittings are normally 1/4-28 thread, but what would the correct hole size be before tapping?

Repowering a C105

Going tomorrow to look at a late model KT-17. It has the stainless muffler and chrome air cleaner. It's off a WH. I've been looking for a replacement motor for my C105. Has anyone here did this swap before. Bigger question is will this motor work on this tractor? The original motor was cradle mounted, I'm guessing the KT-17 would get bolted directly to the frame. Are their any show stoppers in using this engine or should I keep looking for a single slug for a replacement?
